Extraordinary Personal Branding: Do You Know the MLM Mobster?

by Mary Lou on July 31, 2010

When it comes to creating a remarkable and memorable personal brand, my friend Louis Di Bianco has done an extraordinary job.

Growing up a street-smart kid from the Bronx, Louis discovered his passion for acting early and has never looked back. He has been in films with some of Hollywood’s legends including Olympia Dukakis, Danny Aiello, Nicolas Cage, and Cher in that timeless classic “Moonstruck.”

A self-proclaimed “wise guy,” Louis often lands roles as mobsters. This is where the idea for his blog MLM Mobster came about. Everything on his blog reflects this theme, or personal brand, from the New York City skyline photo in the header to the mobster hat sitting on top of the “m” of MLM to the cartoon “goons” on his page “Goon Squad.”

But don’t let the tough guy image fool you. Behind this sinister image of the black, gray, and red blog is a man with a heart of gold and a spirit of giving that truly reflects the best of network marketing. Louis has been building a network marketing business for 3 1/2 years now, and absolutely loves his company and the network marketing profession as a whole.

Louis and I got to know each other first through social media. He found my blog through a post I put on Katie Freiling’s The Unified Tribe and left a comment on one of my posts. I was so impressed by his comment and blog that I looked him up on Facebook and friended him. That friend request led to an hour long phone conversation in which Louis shared with me his background in acting and network marketing and I shared my story with him.

Turns out we both have advanced degrees in English and share a mutual passion for literature, theater, and teaching. We could have talked for hours about just this common interest alone! Thus, the start of a genuine friendship was born.

I cannot stress enough the importance of taking connections you make on social media to the next level. It is impossible to really know a person solely through their social media profiles alone. We are all on this journey together and can learn so much from each other’s experiences and stories.

I am honored to call Louis Di Bianco a friend, and look forward to many more hour-long conversations moving forward.

Please take some time to get to know Louis on his blog MLM Mobster. He has so much wisdom to share and with so much style and flare!

Thank you so much for this post, Mary Lou. I am truly honored. When I first read your blog post on Unified Tribe, I saw that you are intelligent, articulate, and savvy about Network Marketing. People will gain a lot by opening themselves to your knowledge and wisdom.

When I read this post about me, I wished I could become somebody else so that I could meet me.

I strongly urge all people who are committed to MLM to pay close attention to Mary Lou Kayser.

I think you just shared what is the epitome of a true social media connection. This is what it is all about, like you said taking it to the next level.

Networking is networking any way you slice it! You have to speak to people, get to know them share of yourself and listen to them share.

I love what this post represents and I will check out his blog now just because I liked your story. (you never know where contacts are made)

Hi Mary Lou,

I had never heard of MLM Mobster until now and I have to say, what an awesome blog!
Louis has an incredible brand and I absolutely loved the header.
The fact that you met on the UT is so powerful and a great example of taking relationships to the next level.
Personally I find Skype to be the greatest tool for building relationships with people you meet on the social networking sites. In fact I can’t imagine what I used to do before using it!

P.S. The first link to MLM Mobster up the top works perfectly but the latter link at the bottom leads to an error page. Just thought you might want to check on the URL :)

Hey Mary Lou,

I’ve had a great time with you — and with your friend Louis — here today! It’s the wrong end of the day for me to be surfing and dilly-dallying, but you’ve provided so much entertainment it’s no wonder my focus was diverted!

And Louis response is priceless, too! He is gracious and funny!!

I look forward to many return visits.

~Linda

p.s. As with Michale above, some difficulty getting Louis clever, clever page to load properly — but worth trouble, definitely!
