The feeling you get when you stand back and admire work you have done can best be described this way:
A crazy mix of self-generated chemicals forms a cocktail of intense emotion ranging from elation to exhaustion inside your brain and body.
You feel like you can conquer the world and sleep for a week at the same time.
I write this post the day after officially launching a book I helped plan, write, publish and promote. A book that is already changing the lives of its readers. A book I have believed in since first mapping out the vision with colored markers for the project on big post-it note style paper with Karen Lopez McWilliams who originally conceived of the book.
From inception to launch, the project took 18 months. It’s been an incredible journey. And honestly, it’s only just begun.
In the coming weeks, I will write more about this phenomenal experience. I will deconstruct it, extracting insights about what it means to create, what work means at this point in the 21st century, and how and why it matters.
I look forward to sharing what I discover with you because the feeling you get when something finally clicks is unlike any other.
And is worth pursuing if only to say yes, I understand now.
