Oh, the algorithm.

That invisible force that has taken over so many lives.

It certainly controlled mine for a while.

All with the hopes that I'd figure out how to get more people to know about me and my unique brand of stuff.

I can remember spending hours trying to figure out how to make this thing called "online" work.

I watched way too many crappy webinars.

Followed way too many Internet Marketing bros.

Learned the "lingo."

Ugh.

And for what?

Turns out...

Not Much, That's What

Since joining the online culture, I've learned a lot.

A lot of skills, including basic html and copywriting.

I can spot a fake a mile away. Along with all the bullsh*t spewed by guys behind rented cars surrounded by paid models about "making it big" online.

What I've realized is this.

F*ck those lies and f*ck the algorithm.

I simply no longer care whether my keywords are perfect or I have SEO all figured out or if I'm posting content at the right times on the right days.

The damn code gets changed every other second anyway so what's the point of trying to please it in the first place?

What Really Matters

Writing, talking, thinking about, and sharing things that matter to me are far more important than playing the algorithm game.

What I create is one hundred percent aligned with my beliefs and values.

That reflect what I love and think is important.

No more chasing likes or filling the space simply to fill the space.

Most of my posts get little attention and that’s okay.

I post anyway about ideas that interest me and may be inspiring-interesting-motivating to others.

What I won’t do is compromise my values or integrity for the sake of vanity metrics.

All of these social platforms could go away someday and then what?

Just look at what's happening to Twitter, the platform millions thought was the Holy Grail of social media for so long.

Not so much anymore.

Stop living for the algorithm.

It’s not worth it.

Write and think for yourself.

Enjoy and celebrate what you create.

If others enjoy it too, fantastic.

If not, no big deal.

In the end, you liked what you made and that's what matters.
