If you are like most people, you have heard the phrase “new economy” tossed around in the news over the last couple of years. And of course, you know the word “entrepreneur.” But perhaps never the two together.

So what is a New Economy Entrepreneur, anyway? And could you be one?

You will soon see that the two go together as naturally as cookies and milk, but before I give you a semi-formal definition, let me explain through example.

The following list of names personify the essence of a New Economy Entrepreneur:

  • Warren Buffett
  • Ariana Huffington
  • Oprah
  • Everyone in the Tribe Mastermind Community
  • The Guy Who Runs the Koi Fusion Food Cart in Portland, Oregon

Okay, okay. You were with me until the last two names on the list, weren’t you? 🙂

What is the Tribe Mastermind Community?

My new friend from this amazing community Krista Abbott describes it just about better than anyone. She writes:

“A tribe is a community of people with common interests and common goals. They are united with a common thread and commitment to share resources with other members of the community.

“In social media, the tribe concept has taken flight and is catching on quick, thanks to a group of mastermind bloggers and marketers (more on them later) who have taken the concept and developed a community around it. In my opinion, the tribe concept promises to be one of the biggest things to hit the on-line social scene in a long…long…long time.”

Generally speaking, people in this community reflect the growing trend of hybridization — where Social Media meets Entrepreneurship meets Network Marketing meets Philanthropy. It is truly a powerful concept and one that will take greater shape and have wider influence for years to come.

New Economy Entrepreneurs are naturally tribal: we embrace the concept of creating communities in order for ALL people to benefit. This is why anyone who is part of a Tribe Mastermind Community already automatically qualifies as a New Economy Entrepreneur.

What Does a Local Food Cart Guy Possibly Have in Common with Those Other Big Famous People?

Simple.

1. He is someone who invests his energies into adding value to the world through his business ventures that reflect what he is passionate about (an entrepreneur);

AND…

2. He embraces the power of technology to get Big Things Done (in his case, he uses Social Media sites like Facebook and Twitter to attract a loyal customer base who eventually create a “buzz” about his business and grow his profits for him — the epitome of new economy tools).

In fact, Social Media has allowed this man to take his business from one cart to five, all in less than a year’s time! There is no other way he could have grown as quickly had it not been for the Internet and Social Media. Of course, once the buzz about his scrumptious multi-cultural tacos was flying all over Facebook and Twitter feeds, the local news media picked up his story and ran a couple of human interest pieces on him and his business, only adding exponentially to his customer base because people saw him on TV.

Thus, a New Economy Entrepreneur is someone who engages in businesses* he or she owns that:

  • Reflect his or her passions
  • Add value to the world through products and services offered
  • Capitalize on the power of the Internet and Social Media to multiply efforts, improve efficiency, and increase profits.

*Note emphasis on the plural of business — businesses. I point this out because it is critical to understanding what a New Economy Entrepreneur is. NEE are never one-dimensional. Having multiple streams of income is an essential component of the overall definition, just like chocolate chips are an essential part of chocolate chip cookies.

Indeed, New Economy Entrepreneurs embrace the changes going on all around us. We see opportunity where others see chaos or doom. We believe in the power of communities, technology, the Law of Attraction, and good old-fashioned wisdom to guide us and propel us toward a brighter and more abundant future. New Economy Entrepreneurs work hard at what we believe in. Wealth comes as a by-product of our passions, and we are generous with our time and resources as we extend what we know and have to others.

If any of what I have written above resonates with you, then you are probably already a New Economy Entrepreneur OR have the desire to become one. I would be more than happy to spend 30 minutes with you on a complementary phone consultation to discuss your goals and dreams of becoming a New Economy Entrepreneur too. Just fill in your information in the box below and I will get back to you promptly to set up an appointment!
