business predictions for 2014Predictions are interesting in that they are popular as one year ends and another is about to begin, lots of people love reading them, and unless they are really “out there,” they are almost always spookily spot on.

That said, what’s just over the horizon in the coming year?

Here are 7 business predictions for 2014 from my vantage point, in no particular order:

1. Many small businesses will see record-breaking growth in 2014, while some businesses will stay about the same or see dwindling profits.

2. As we move deeper into the online world, a new set of leaders will move away from it, returning back into the physical world in search of real connections and experiences.

3. The novelty of tablets and smartphones will wane as the market becomes over-saturated and they become standard operating procedure for business.

4. Retiring baby boomers will continue to seek new ways to leave behind their professional legacy.

5. Cases of social media burnout will continue to increase.

6. More businesses will adopt video as a means of nurturing leads throughout their sales cycle.

7. Professionals who become skilled at the art and craft of authentic storytelling will hold the keys to the kingdom.
