Ever hear the phrase “expect the unexpected?”

I heard it a lot growing up, in Girl Scouts, at the dinner table, in school.

Seems like all the adults in my life wanted to embed this lesson into my head so as I went out on my own and navigated through life, I would be able to adapt to all the changes that would inevitably come my way.

Well, there is a reason phrases like “expect the unexpected” become cliches. There is truth at the core of them, universal truths we all cannot deny. A decision I made recently showcases how true this phrase really is.

Take a look at this video here to see what I’m talking about…

What have your experiences been with the unexpected showing up in your life? Looking back, did you see them coming or were they truly surprises? How did you respond to them? Be so kind to share your experiences here and pass along to others!

  1. Hi Mary,

Loved the video, i might try out that diet to.

I love how you related it to leaving an old way of doing things behind. When we embark on a new life’s journey it is a total shift in perspectives and paradigm’s.
Our minds totally adjust to the new way of thinking and become afixed on the new goals we set for ourselves. even hinting at going back to our old routines brings a sickening feeling in the depths of our being that forces us to push further or break down.

Imagine if you were to go back to the daily routine you once had before your day of enlightenment. I would reccomend you read “The Dark Side of The Light Chasers” and “The Path of Least Resistance”. Based on this post i know you will love the books.

Keep on the new path you’ve set, and good luck with your diet.

Looking forward to your next gem.

  2. Hey Mary Lou,

What a great analogy between food & business! It usually takes more than one day to see a difference! Thanks for sharing your experience and wisdom 🙂

    Many Blessings,

  3. Hi Arthur, Thank you for such a thoughtful comment. The books you recommend sound outstanding, and since I love books, I will definitely add these to my list! Change is never easy, but often what we fear will happen because of change doesn’t happen, at least not to the degree we imagined it would. To me, the rewards of moving forward, despite some discomfort, always outweigh staying static…or worse, going backward! 🙂
