marcus mariota
Looks like it’s turning into Marcus Mariota theme week around here at Mary Lou Kayser dot com.

What can I say?

He makes great content. 🙂

As predicted, Marcus Mariota of the Oregon Ducks was awarded the Heisman trophy in New York City last night. Looking dapper (and fidgeting quite a bit) in a becoming light gray suit, black shirt, and zebra pattern tie that matched the shirt his father was wearing, Marcus accepted the prestigious college football player award with his usual understated and sincere aplomb.

Thanking his teammates, his coaches, his teachers, Phil and Peggy Knight, his Hawaiian Ohana, the Polynesian community, his mother, his father, and his younger brother Matt, Marcus had to pause several times to wipe away tears and catch his breath during his acceptance speech as the emotions of gratitude, joy, and relief washed over him.

At the end of his speech, Marcus quipped a quick yet decisive “Go Ducks!” into the microphone, sending a swell of pride and joy across the nation of Duck fans far and wide.

If ever a young man represented what is best about college football, Marcus would be it.

Now that all the hype and build up have reached their natural climax, he can get back to focusing on getting ready for the Rose Bowl on January 1, 2015 in Pasadena where he and his team will face the Florida State Seminoles in what is touted to be the match of the new year.

A win will send the Ducks to play for the National Championship in Arlington, Texas less than two weeks later, which will be touted as the next match of the new year.

How high is the probability that Marcus — along with his team and the coaching staff — will stand before millions of viewers and shed more tears of gratitude, joy, and relief on January 12, 2015?

Very.

With the tailwind of all the accolades he’s recently won at his back, Marcus can continue leading the way toward the Promised Land of bringing a National Championship home to Eugene, where it will look mighty fine next to that 25 pound bronze statue he received last night.

Onward, Marcus! Onward!
