When all is said and done, what we think we want more than anything is options.
It’s not so much the thing (i.e.the mansion, the Tesla, the month-long vacation in Bali) that options afford.
It’s having the option to have the thing if we so choose.
Never in our history have we had as many options as we have today. They are, in so many ways, limitless.
Which is precisely the problem.
What most people aren’t prepared for is how big a Bitch so much freedom really is.
The more of it you have, the harder it is to control.
The harder it is to control, the less to do with it you want.
The less to do with it you want, the wider you dig the moat.
Options may lead us to the door of the castle.
It’s limits that let us inside.
