Dear Mr. Godin,

I wanted to take a few minutes to thank you personally for the work you have done in your life. While I imagine all of your endeavors have been meaningful to you in one way or another, I am particularly grateful for the books you have written, especially your latest, Linchpin.

Linchpin is especially meaningful to me because I am one of the Artists you write about. On several occasions as I listened to you read your beautiful book for audio, I broke down and sobbed. Not because I was sad, but because I was relieved. I am actually getting emotional now as I compose this letter. Your observations and insights are that powerful and speak the truth of so many Artists “out here” doing our work.

You have touched my heart and my soul in ways that no other writer has in this particular arena, and that admission is coming from a bibliophile of the tallest order! 🙂 I suppose I say this because I am at that point in my life when I am humbly and gracefully accepting myself for who I am, which is an Artist, and it’s okay. You and your book affirm what I have known and practiced all along — Art Does Matter.

Anyway, please know that your book matters to at least one person out here in the reading world, and that person is me. Thank you for having the courage to write it, for sharing so much of yourself with your readers in it, for being transparent, and for continuing to model that “living life along its edges” is not only doable, but necessary.

You are and will continue to be an inspiration to me, Mr. Godin.

With the Greatest Respect and Gratitude,
