I wanted to start this new week in the new month with a product review of a fantastic new content tool I recently discovered called the Content Creators Planner.
Because I not only create content for clients but also for my own business development efforts (e.g. this blog post counts in that equation), having a contained system like the Content Creators Planners where I can manage my content initiatives is extremely valuable.
I also happen to like the physical nature of an old-fashioned planner. There’s just something nice about putting pen, highlighters, and colored pencils to paper to plan out my weekly content strategy.
Designed by my friend Kim Doyal and her business partner Jodi Hersch, the Content Creators Planner is the first of its kind to market, as best as I can tell.
I love it so much, I made a video about it. I’ve included the video transcription under the video for anyone who would like to read and watch.
# EverythingIsContent after all, as Kim loves to say!
Content Creators Planner Video Review Transcript
In today’s short video, I am going to review a product that I know is going to help me with my business as I move forward into finishing up the year and then into the 2020s.
The tool I’m going to be reviewing was created by a friend of mine and her business partner. Kim Doyle and Jodi Hersch created what’s called the Content Creators Planner. And for any of you out there who are running a small business, you know how important content is consistently put out across our channels, our website and our social feeds to keep our brand fresh and to educate, enlighten, entertain our primary audiences.
What Kim and Jody discovered was that there was a need in the marketplace for something like this. And I for one appreciate really good tools. This is an amazing tool. I can tell by the quality — the cover feels great.
It came with swag, which I love. Everything is content or #EverythingIContent sticker. So that’s really fun. I’ll put that on my water bottle. They also included a nice welcome letter letting me know how much they appreciate me investing in the Content Creators Planner and some resources where I can get more information and help if I so choose. So again, well done in terms of how the product is presented and delivered.
The other thing I like about this is that it’s not overwhelming. They designed it for a 90-day run. Anybody can do anything for 90 days. That’s the way I look at it. And I, for one, have not had a very strategic approach to my own content. I do a great for my clients, but when it comes to my own business and brand, I tend to fall down. That’s pretty universal because I’ve had a lot of conversations with other business owners about that very thing.
We tend to be really good at delivering for others what we don’t deliver for ourselves. So that’s one of the reasons I’m excited about this planner. It’s going to give me a structured approach to thinking through what kind of content I need to put into the “internetsphere” as it were over the next 90 days.
Rather than just throwing the metaphorical spaghetti at the wall, why not take a few minutes and think through, okay, we’re in Q4 right now of 2019 so there are elements around that. I know that I’m going to be launching a client’s book here pretty soon, so there’s stuff around that. I’ve got my podcast and I’m putting that out every week, so there’s stuff around that. This gives me a container where I can map out a strategy instead of waking up going, ‘What do I have to put out into the world today?”
Which again, I think is indicative of so many of us who are building businesses, whether it’s online or offline.
Content matters.
We have to have something that continues to enlighten, educate, entertain, help the audiences we’re currently serving and the audiences that we would like to serve in the future. So again, kudos to you, Kim and Jodi! Thank you so much for putting together a terrific product. I can’t wait to get my colored markers, my colored pencils, and my colored pens and start marking this up. I can tell you’ve given us amazing instructions.
That’s another thing I appreciate about the Content Creators Planner — it’s not just a blank template, but it actually shows some examples of what kind of content a business might consider for the different kinds of platforms.
So hats off to you guys! This is Mary Lou Kayser of Mary Lou Kayser dot com. Thanks so much for watching. I will be back in a future video with another review of a book, a tool, or a system that I find useful and effective for growing a small business today.
See you next time.
