My First Year in Podcasting

One of my favorite quotes of all time is by Gretchen Rubin, New York Times bestselling author of The Happiness Project: Or, Why I Spent a Year Trying to Sing in the Morning, Clean My Closets, Fight Right, Read Aristotle, and Generally Have More Fun.

She says:

“The days are long, but the years are short.”

Those words could not feel more true as I celebrate the first year anniversary of podcasting with my show, Play Your Position.

32 episodes, a line up of incredible guests, a handful of audio postcards where I wax philosophical about current trends, events, and fascinating people — all held together by a theme about human mastery and achievement as symbolized with three elements of an American football game — have made the last 12 months pretty special. Going into this project, I had no idea a year later the show would be heard in 30 countries around the world and would lead to meeting people who have since become friends, associates, and business partners. While I didn’t hit my original goal of having 52 episodes within one year’s time, I’m proud of the content I did create and even happier with the quality of the stories my guests shared.

In this episode of the Play Your Position podcast, I share three insights I’ve gleaned from a year of podcasting, along with some reflections on how making the decision to start a podcast has influenced and shaped not just my entrepreneurial journey, but my life’s journey as well. It’s been an interesting and enlightening experience so far, and it could not have been possible without the amazing guests who shared their stories, along with the listeners who tune in to each episode and then spread the word about the show.

You can listen to the complete episode right here, or check it out over on iTunes.

Whether this is your first listen or you’ve been with me since day one, I appreciate your loyalty and support. It’s been a great ride so far and I look forward to the next 12 months!
